National advice serviceThe Cancer Society’s national advice service is available free of charge and can be contacted from anywhere in the country. You can seek advice by calling, emailing or by contacting us by online chat. The Cancer Society’s national advice service is intended for everyone who is or has ever been affected by cancer. Advice by email You can contact the national advice service by email. Emails are answered during the service’s opening times. You can also send a callback request by email. A nurse is available to answer the phone service on Mondays and Thursdays 10.00 – 18.00 and on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10.00 –15.00. Chat The national advice service’s online chat forum allows you to discuss with a nurse in real time one to one or in a group. You can schedule a one to one or group chat here. You can chat using your own name or anonymously. The service is available mainly in Finnish. Advice sought may be to do with cancer, its treatment, rehabilitation or the possibilities for obtaining assistance. The service is also there to help if you suspect you may have cancer, or need information on cancer prevention, cancer and hereditary issues or cancer screening. Genetic counselling The nationwide advice service employs healthcare professionals specialised in oncology. You can obtain advice in your own name or anonymously. The service is free of charge. The English speaking service is intended to people living in Finland whose home language is not Finnish or Swedish. Principles of advice (in Finnish)(opens in a new window) Cancer pain hotline The cancer pain hotline is a phone service that provides support on matters of cancer pain therapy. The cancer pain hotline operates in collaboration with the Cancer Society of Finland. The cancer pain hotline’s experts advise cancer patients and their loved ones and when necessary cooperate with healthcare staff to deal with a patient’s problems with pain.
